The idea for Mikey’s Original New York Pizza was born rather unexpectedly.
Michael Helfman, a native New Yorker, who has been in Asia for the last 6 years, was on a trip in Thailand when he spotted a vendor selling pizzas by the slice, New York style, along the beach. Being a fan of the New York slice, he had to buy one. At that moment, he wondered why there wasn’t quality New York pizza in Kuala Lumpur amongst the growing fascination with American fast food.
That was in March 2013. After months of extensive research, Michael got in touch with famous New York Pizza Chef, Andrew Bellucci. After several meetings, Andrew agreed to start a new chapter of his life in Kuala Lumpur, to help Michael bring the New York Slice to Malaysia. From there on, Mikey’s New York Pizza was not just an idea anymore.
Mikey’s was created from passion and hard-work by Michael and Andrew. As part of the Mikey’s logo, they source the freshest produce to keep the quality of everything on the menu, ingredients are also homemade. Mikey’s not only want patrons to enjoy the New York pizza, but to also share some of New York’s heritage right here in Malaysia.
